Is street photography art?

The short answer is “yes, street photography is art.” Why is it, however, that photographers all over the world take pictures of everyday situations and of people they do not know and we consider those photographs art?

Street photography is universally recognized as an art form because it embodies the creativity and artistic vision of photographers who are able to capture meaningful and beautiful moments in everyday life. Like the other arts, it is a means of personal expression, allowing those who practice it to share emotions, viewpoints and stories through their images. Beyond aesthetic expectations, this art form also documents the social and cultural life of a given period, providing a valuable historical record.
